Wi School Saint Amand-Paris 15th is fully in line with the vision of education that Maria Montessori promoted at the beginning of the twentieth century: a genuine guide to life, designed to develop each child’s potential.
In this warm and friendly setting, a passionate and caring team guides the children as they explore and handle the Montessori sensory materials adapted to their physical and mental development. Growing up in a bilingual environment is for the children an additional source of personal enrichment and openness.
Respecting each child’s pace and free choice of activity, while respecting the rules of life in the community, fosters the development of self-confidence, independence and adaptability. After all, it’s not just about learning skills and “how to do things”, it’s also about “how to be”.
The Montessori pedagogy is an active approach based on handling highly sophisticated materials, sensory activities and practical experiments, with a view to developing abstract concepts.
Each Montessori material has a specific function and educational objective; it helps children to develop their concentration as well as their coordination and prepares them for more complex activities and more abstract concepts. It is “self-correcting”: children can see whether they have succeeded or not, and can repeat the activity until they have mastered it completely.
Another element of the Montessori pedagogy is the mixing of age groups. This promotes collaboration, communication and a sense of belonging. The younger children are inspired to learn from the older students who can help the younger ones, which in turn provides them all with training, a sense of responsibility and is truly rewarding.
